Personal Development and Success
Reaching The “Zone”

This Friday I will be attending a Shortcut to Flow event by NLP Master Trainer Anders Piper, the author of the book Shortcut to Flow: The Step-by-Step Process for Achieving Extraordinary Focused Success (Volume 1).

Flow is the mythical “zone” that many successful athletes report to be in when they perform at their peak, the euphoric kind of state when everything feels effortless and easy. This is the most beneficial state to be in if you want to perform at your peak.

Anders Piper will no doubt tell us on Friday, as he does also in his book, how to get into that zone.

I have studied several courses under Anders’ teaching and I can say that he is definitely a master of the subject. As a long time student of Anders and a Licensed Trainer of NLP myself, I have applied the teachings to my Peak Performance Coaching.

If you are anywhere near Espoo (or Helsinki), Finland this Friday, I strongly suggest that you attend this free event by Anders Piper!

Hypnosis and NLP as a Remedy for Menopause

I have found that NLP, hypnosis, meditation and even just relaxation are quite effective remedies for menopausal symptoms.

Many of the symptoms are, in one way or another, mental and even the most common ones, like the hot flashes, night sweats and loss of libido can be treated with NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and hypnosis.

Many people have unnecessary doubts, or even fears, towards hypnosis. For those I recommend meditation and general relaxations. When you relax your body and mind, you relieve all kinds of tensions, including anxiety, depression and mood swings, not to mention panic disorders or just common fatigue. In fact, I have found that NLP, hypnosis, meditation and relaxation can give help in at least 20 of the 36 listed menopausal symptoms.

Old Stuff vs. New Stuff

I am currently reading  Psycho Cybernetics 2000 by Bobbe Sommer and Maxwell Maltz Foundation. The book is supposed to be an updated version of Maxwell Maltz’s classic  Psycho-Cybernetics, A New Way to Get More Living Out of Life.

Okay, I have to admit that I’ve read only about 1/3 of the book so far, but it has come apparent that, although I think Maltz and Sommer are on the right track in some - or perhaps even most - of the things they write about, the techniques to make the necessary changes are mostly outdated.

Sommer and Maltz suggest that in order to make changes in our unconscious mind you will need to do repetitive exercises daily for about six weeks. That sounds like a lot of work to me. Especially when I know that most of the changes that Sommer is describing in the book can be made within minutes by using NLP techniques.

Maxwell Maltz’s original book was first published in 1960. Richard Bandler has been developing NLP for about 40 years now and has proved that NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) can produce permanent results extremely effectively. Although I do appreciate Maltz’s and Sommer’s work in improving people’s lives, I find it somewhat strange that the new “updated” book fails to recognize the modern techniques of NLP as a far more faster and effective way of getting the same - or even better - results.

Hmm, go figure…

Effortless Success?

Just finished reading You Can Have What You Want: Proven Strategies for Inner and Outer Success by Michael Neill, an NLP Master Trainer and Success Coach, and listening, whenever in my car, to Effortless Success: How to Get What You Want and Have a Great Time Doing It by the same author.

I have to say that it was a great set of excellent information. What I especially enjoyed about this learning experience was that the information came through two different senses: seeing and hearing.

I read the book once (so far) and listened to the CD’s maybe five times and every time I listened to the CD’s new insights came flowing in to me. I wonder what new stuff I will pick up when listening to it the next time…

I highly recommend Michael Neill’s set. I think it’s the best one I’ve come across so far.

How to Use Your Left and Right Brain Simultaneously?

“The way to increase your intelligence and to function at the peak of your current level of brain power is to learn to use your left and right brain simultaneously.” - Michael Neill

There are several ways to activate both sides of your brain simultaneously. One of the simplest is to toss a ball back and forth from left hand to right hand - and from right hand to left hand. That is a great way, by the way, to calm yourself down, but it does not necessarily increase your intelligence as itself. If you add some brain work to it, you might see some surpeising results, though.

I have found a great way to activate both sides of the brain which has a great number of positive side effects, as well. It’s called Holosync and it’s created by Bill Harris, also known from the movie The Secret. I have been using Holosync for almost two years now and the results I’m getting are nothing short from amazing!

Benefits of Proactiveness in Team Sports

During this weekend I spent some time working on a LAB Profile of a football (or soccer) team playing on the highest level in Finland.

One of the things that caught my attention was the proactiveness of the players. A highly proactive person usually acts with little or no consideration and is highly motivated by doing. On the other end, what we in NLP call a reactive person, is a person who is motivated to wait, analyze, consider and react.

In football, and in many other team sports, the possible benefits of proactiveness depend on the position and the role of the player. For a striker, it is benefitial to be proactive. On a decisive moment to score a goal, the striker should be proactive and just go and do it. If he starts to analyze the situation and consider which corner he should aim for or whether it would be better to see if he’ll get to a better position after a couple of moves, a defender will probably come and kick the ball away from his reach.

A defender, on the other hand, might have more use of reactiveness. He should be able to constatly analyze how the players of the opposite team are positioning themselves and react accordingly. However, due to the nature and the speed of the game, the defenders should not take too much time to wait and see what will happen, neither. They, too, should have the ability to act without hesitation when that is required from them.

Law of Attraction in Sports

Today there will be an interesting soccer game in Germany. FC Schalke 04 will play against HJK from Helsinki, Finland, their second leg game of the play-off round for the Europa League. In the first leg game HJK won 2-0 in Helsinki.

Now there are several aspects that make this game interesting. First of all, this is a David vs. Goliath game. HJK has a total budget of 2M euros for the whole season. Schalke 04 has a budget for the players’ salaries only of 60M euros. Since HJK won the fist leg, only this should make the game interesting.

But the real interest for me will be the strategy that HJK will take. Are they going to take “away from” strategy of trying to avoid loosing the game or are they going to take the “toward” strategy of going for another win.

According to the Law of Attraction, what you think about will come to you. Since our subconscious mind is not able to understand the “don’t” commands, thinking that “we don’t want to lose this game” the subconscious mind only hears “we lose this game.” So, is the HJK Manager’s message going to be “let’s not lose this game” or “let’s win this game and the whole play-off round?” We should find out tonight.

If you are not familiar with the Law of Attraction, I suggest you visit my website for Personal Development Program Reviews and get familiar with the programs or check out my links and order “The Secret” as a book or a DVD.

“Traditional” Personal Development and NLP

During my years of studying the personal development field, I have become convinced that the most useful way for me to develop myself is by combining the teachings of the “traditional” personal development teachers, like Bob Proctor, Napoleon Hill, “The Secret” and others, with NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming).

Where the “traditional” teachers will teach you a lot about the extremely important laws of the universe, like the law of attraction, NLP will give you the most effective tools to make those changes you need to make.
